Call Trace is available with calls made from our local calling area of 400, 458, 446, 894. There is a service charge for each successful trace. Once a trace has been successfully completed, the information is considered proprietary and can only be released by the telephone company to law enforcement officials.
How To Activate Call Trace:
- If you receive a harassment call and you want to activate call trace, hang up.
- Wait for 10 seconds, then pick-up your handset, listen for dial tone. Then dial, *57 or, for rotary phones, 1157.
- If you want to continue the trace process, press 1. Otherwise, hang up.
- You will receive an announcement if the trace was successful.
- Contact your local law enforcement office to file a case. Law enforcement will contact FairPoint Communications.
